Between 2017-2020
Under this health initiative quality health care was provided to the underprivileged population living in rural areas. Service seekers from 226 villages availed health services from 28 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 4 Rural Hospitals, 2 Sub District Hospitals, and 4 District Hospitals.
Between 2021-2023
During this period service seeker from 2880 villages availed health services from 101 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 614 Sub-Centres, 10 Rural Hospitals, 7 Sub District Hospitals, and 4 District Hospitals.
Objectives
- To facilitate increased access and utilisation of quality health service in rural areas by strengthening the processes and strategies of Community Based Planning and Monitoring on the ground.
- To strengthen the Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committees.
Activities
Development of community-based planning and monitoring processes; strategies and interventions with regard to public health infrastructure of Ahmednagar, Amravati, Chandrapur, and Raigad districts of Maharashtra.
Main Outcome
- Development of community-based planning and monitoring processes; strategies and interventions with regard to public health facilities and services involving community participation.
- Initiated and mainstreamed activities like Jansamvad, village health sanitation and nutrition committees, and strengthening of Primary Health Care /Sub Centre/ Health and Wellness Level Committees that led to participatory monitoring.
- Jansamvad provided an effective and productive public platform for better coordination between the service providers, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.
- Empowering the local communities to address and resolve the local issues at the community level through the support of local stakeholders with enhanced accountability and ownership.
PEPFAR America Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Project

Key population (KPs) and people living with HIV (PLHIV) through collaboration with four PLHIV networks and NGOs /CBO’s working with key populations in Non-PEPFAR Satara, Sangli Kolhapur and Solapur districts of Maharashtra.
Objectives
To address vaccine hesitancy and promote access to COVID‐19 vaccines and support safe and uninterrupted access to key populations and PLHIVs from the Non-PEPFAR Satara Sangli Kolhapur and Solapur districts of Maharashtra.
Activities
- Conduct IEC/BCC sessions for Community Champions of NGOs working with key populations and PLHIVs for promoting uninterrupted access to COVID‐19 vaccines
- Conduct COVID-19 vaccination camps for KP’s and PLHIVs
- Development of Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) material for COVID-19 vaccination for PLHIV and KP’s
Main Outcome
- COVID-19 vaccination of 5499 PLHIVs and KPs (3596 through camps and 1903 through helpdesks)
- First Dose- 563; Second Dose – 2051 and Precautionary Dose – 2885 as per the inclusion criteria approved by USAID
- Seven COVID-19 vaccination camps for KPs and PLHIVs for first second and precautionary dosage as per the inclusion criteria approved by USAID at rural hospital Ichalkaranji, District Kolhapur; ART Centre Gadhilangj, District Kolhapur; Government Medical College, District Kolhapur; Savitribai Phule ART Centre, District Kolhapur and Kavathe Mahakal ART Centre, Miraj Block, District Sangali
- Development of Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) materials for addressing vaccine hesitancy and promoting access to vaccination based on the inputs feedback and responses of KPs and PLHIVs.
- Running Help Desks at District Civil Hospitals of Satara, Sangli and Solapur districts of Maharashtra
